A microchip can provide a lifetime of permanent identification if your dog or cat gets lost.
As a pet parent, one of the life-long worries we all have is being separated from our furry family members. Despite all the precautions we take, making use of well-designed leashes and dog/cat doors, accidents do occur. Pets are naturally curious creatures and in the blink of an eye, they can wander off even under the supervision of the most careful of pet parents. They can also be stolen by ill-intentioned people. With microchipping, your chances of being reunited with your pet will increase exponentially. Please contact our team to learn more about our microchipping rates and services.
A microchip is a rice-sized chip that is inserted under your pet’s skin. The microchip essentially has ID and contact information of you and your pet. For example, a typical microchip will contain a description of your pet (including any medical conditions they may have) and your personal contact information. When your pet is found and is sent to an animal hospital or humane shelter, the workers there will be able to scan the microchip and reach out to you using the information provided on the device. It is not like a GPS, and works more like a permanent ID. Microchips are effective even when you are travelling in the U.S. and other international regions.
Yes. The microchip is made of materials that will not harm your pet. They are designed to last inside your pet’s body all their life. In addition, the procedure is virtually painless, taking only a few minutes from start to finish. The microchip is inserted via a small needle. It is usually placed underneath the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. We usually do not administer any pain medications or anesthesia for the procedure because most pets handle it so well.
Each pet is different and may require different approaches to the procedure. It’s best to call our team so that we can talk in detail and provide you with an accurate cost estimate.
